Bimtecnia is the annual construction 4.0 forum which aims to enhance digital transformation through activities including talks, workshops, webinars and a technological dinner. It is organized by the Clúster Hábitat Eficiente (Aeice), a conglomerate of companies and institutions that promote the socio-economic development of the territory through diverse sectors, such as construction 4.0.

In its fourth edition, held last 11th and 12th of December in Valladolid, the fair brought together dozens of professionals from the sector who received training on different tools for the digital transformation of the sector.

The opening day of Bimtecnia included the presence of Public Works and Environment advisor of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, the president of Aeice, Ricardo Fortuoso and the councilor of Urban Planning and Housing of the City Hall of Valladolid, Manuel Saravia. Among others participating were José Juan Márquez, technical director of ArchiEspaña or Nicola Furcolo and Roberto Natale from ACCA. Additionally, the BIMVA competition projects were presented and awards were given out.

The second day involved workshops that were organized in four thematic blocks related to the last developments in construction. They were: “Project planning using BIM (4D) with VICO software”, “Control and collaborative document management with BLUEBEAM” or “Elaboration of Metering, Budgeting and Certification based on BIM models and IFC formats”. The workshops introduced the management tool for occupational hazard prevention using BIM models and developed by the Fundación Laboral.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a methodology for collaborative work to create and manage construction projects. It consists in administering detailed information about a building to avoid loss of resources and to be as efficient as possible in time management. BIM allows the creation of digital design simulations of architectural projects que integrate all the information related to each project.

The BIM model is a step forward in the digital transformation of the construction industry because in order to implement BIM projects, it is necessary to use 3D, real-time, dynamic building modeling software. This technology allows the digital collection of information on buildings, which can be used in future cases of reconstruction or maintenance.
