The company KPMG and the CEOE have published, every year since 2009, the Perspectives Spain Report, which includes, from a survey, the principal opinions of business owners and managers on the economic situation of the country.

Throughout the business sectors, the expectations for this 2019 are relatively optimistic. Although the data is worse than that of 2018, the forecast continues to one of growth. The construction sector is aligning with the rest of the sectors and also faces 2019 with optimism. This tendency is based on two key factors: the international expansion toward Latin America and the United States and the increase in activity linked to housing and roads that comes from the economic growth that the country has recently been experiencing. A growth is also foreseen in the construction of logistical facilities, urban transport and social infrastructures.

However, in order to comply with these forecasts, the surveys say that it is necessary for the sector to make some strategical improvements that will allow it to be more efficient and competitive. These are the optimization of work procedures and digital transformation.
In this sense, the sector has taken into consideration the importance of joining the digital transformation and is implementing technological solutions and work methodologies. The two principal objectives highlighted by those surveyed are the efficiency in execution and the improvement in procedures, as well as the control and planning of resources.

In the construction sector, where the margins are very tight and projects are increasingly more complicated, the capacity to implement the digital transformation and new technologies will be a distinguishing aspect.

As far as worries about the evolution of the sector, the surveys show that regulatory risks are the main threat, followed by operational and geopolitical problems.
