Technology at the service of construction goes one step further with this robot created by the engineering and robotics company, Boston Consulting, which is able to move around construction sites capturing and digitalizing the entire construction process in 360º images.

The mission of the Spot Walk robot is to capture the smallest details in construction projects. It is a robotic platform equipped with a large variety of sensors and stereo cameras that allow a 360-degree vision of its surroundings. The information the robot receives gives a live digital image of the project because it can carry out a comprehensive control of the construction process and detect possible errors that could occur. Also, it will eliminate extraordinary costs derived from the correction of errors and it will also increase productivity of work teams, two key aspects in the satisfactory development of any construction project.

The use of the Spot Walk robot will also decrease documentation time by more than 50% and create work documents that are truly relevant both for work teams as well as the owners because it offers information on the current status of the project at any time and from any place.

For its creation, Boston Consulting has driven the learning process created by the construction software company, Holo Builder, which examines and processes the images taken by Spot Walk.
Although the Spot Walk is not for sale yet, some pilot tests have been done to follow the operation of the more than 1-billion-dollar project in Terminal 1 of the Harvey Milk Airport in San Francisco and the results have been very positive.
